Where are the legal documents that apply to the Summit Learning program for the 2022-2023 school year?

We periodically update our terms and policies to help ensure teachers and students understand their rights and responsibilities when using the Summit Learning program, as well as to explain how we collect, use and protect your personal information.

To support the continued development of the Summit Learning platform and to better explain our services, we are updating our terms and policies for the 2022-2023 school year.

These updates do not impact the day-to-day experience of the Summit Learning program, and do not change how the platform collects or uses student data. A few of the material changes (compared to the terms for the 2021-2022 school year) are described below. We encourage users to read the revised terms.

Here are the legal terms that apply to each school or districts:

  • Program Agreement (effective July 1, 2022)
    • We’ve made changes to improve our internal business processes to better provide the Summit Learning platform and Summit Learning program, including professional development and school support services.
  • Data Privacy Addendum (effective July 1, 2022)
    • We have added an Appendix A to our Data Privacy Addendum to include state specific terms for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, and West Virginia.
    • We have added language to provide more information about how we may use and share information we collect to operate, improve and develop Gradient Learning’s educational sites, services, or applications or to communicate with school leaders and teachers.
  • Terms of Service (effective July 1, 2022)
    • We have added language allowing us to contact you about upcoming professional development training, events, and new products or services.

Here are the legal terms that apply to individual users:

  • User Agreement (effective July 1, 2022)
    • We have added language allowing us to contact you about upcoming professional development training, events, and new products or services.
  • Privacy Policy (effective January 9, 2023)
    • We updated our state-specific section to align with the privacy standards set out in the recently-amended California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other state privacy laws. This includes an updated section (Section 13) about the rights users generally have over their personal information (including but not limited to the right to access, delete, and correct their personal information); how to exercise rights over personal information; and opt out preference signals. Section 13 was also updated to include additional disclosures under the CCPA.
