Glossary of School Data Dashboard Metrics

Definitions for Metrics in Student Outcomes
student_outcomes_.jpeg

Student Outcomes: % of students that are on-track in their courses (these students have no overdue projects/math units, cognitive skills or math concept averages below 70%, and no off-track focus areas).

Power Focus Areas On Track: % of students who are on track in power focus areas across all of their courses. The pace at which the students are passing is on-track towards completing all focus areas by the end of the year. This metric also shows the number of students who are off track by a certain number of focus areas.

Examples:

  • If Little Billy is on track in Math, English, and History, but 1 focus area behind in Science, he will be in the “1-2 Behind” group.

  • If Little Maggie is 1 focus area off-track in Math, 1 in English, 0 in History, and 2 in Science, then she has 4 focus areas off track total and will be counted in the “3-4 behind” group.

No Overdue Projects: % of students who have overdue projects in any of their courses. Like the Power Focus Area metric, this shows the number of total overdue projects across all courses, not the number of overdue projects in each course.

Cog Skills Above 85%: % of students with an average cog skill percentage of 85% or above across all of their courses. It’s possible for a student to have an average that is below 70% in one or more courses even if their overall average across all courses is higher. Note: A cog skill average of over 70% indicates that a student is passing minimum requirements, while an average of over 85% indicates that they are on grade level.

Math Units Above 80%: % of students with an average math unit score of 80% or above.Because students are typically only in one math course, this metric is often simply the students’ concept percentage in that math course. Note: A concept average of over 70% indicates that a student is passing minimum requirements, while an average of over 80% indicates that they are on grade level.

Definitions for Metrics in Project-Based Learning Implementation

Projects Currently Assigned: % of students who currently have at least one project assigned to them in any of their courses. This metric is pulled from projects with any status (submitted/resubmitted/not submitted) that are not past its due date.

Last Project Assigned: The most recent date that any project was assigned to a student.

Feedback Requested in Last 2 Weeks: % of students who have requested feedback on a checkpoint in any of their courses in the last 10 instructional days.

Feedback Given in Last 2 Weeks: % of students who have received checkpoint feedback in the last 10 instructional days for a project in any of their courses.

Projects Submitted But Not Scored: % of students who have submitted a project, but that project has not yet been scored.

Projects Scored in Last 2 Weeks: % of students who have received a project score in the last 10 instructional days for a project in any of their courses.

Definitions for Metrics in 1:1 Mentoring Implementation

Set Goals in Last Week: % of students who have set a goal in the last 5 instructional days.

Checked-In In Last 2 Weeks: % of students who have had a mentor check-in in the platform in the last 10 instructional days.

Checked-In In Last 4 Weeks: % of students who have had a mentor check-in in the platform in the last month.

Average Check-In Length During Last 4 Weeks: The average length of mentor check-ins from the last 20 instructional days.

Definition for Metrics in Self-Directed Learning Implementation

Used the Platform in the Last 2 Weeks: % of students who have logged in or used the platform in the last 10 instructional days. See the Student Platform Activity metric to see the breakdown of all students who were active within the last 10 instructional days.

Assessment Taken in the Last 2 Weeks: % of students who have taken an assessment on a power, additional, or challenge focus area in any of their courses in the last 10 instructional days.

Definitions for Metrics in Student Platform Activity

student_platform_activity.jpeg
In the Student Platform Activity section, students will only appear in one of the four categories. The four percentages will total to 100% of your total number of students enrolled in academic courses on the platform.

Have Been Active in the Last Instructional Day: % of students who were active on the platform in the last instructional day (note: we determine the last instructional day as one instructional day before the data was updated. You can find the date of the last update at the top of each dashboard page).

Examples:

  • A student who logged in yesterday
  • A student who edited a Notebook yesterday
  • A student who requested feedback yesterday

Have Been Active Between 1 and 5 Instructional Days: % of students who were active on the platform 1-5 instructional days ago. These students were not active in the last instructional day.

Examples:

  • A student who logged in 3 instructional days ago
  • A student who edited a Notebook 2 instructional days ago
  • A student who requested feedback yesterday 4 instructional days ago

Have Been Active Between 5 and 10 Instructional Days: % of students who were active on the platform 5 - 10 instructional days ago.

Examples:

  • A student who logged in 7 instructional days ago
  • A student who edited a Notebook 9 instructional days ago
  • A student who requested feedback 6 instructional days ago

Have Not Been Active in the Last 10 Instructional Days: % of students who have not been active on the platform in the last 10 instructional days.

Examples:

  • A student who logged in 11 instructional days ago
  • A student who edited a Notebook 25 instructional days ago
  • A student who has never logged in on the platform before
