Where are the legal documents that apply to the Summit Learning program for the 2021-2022 school year?

Revised terms will be made available for the 2021-2022 school year to clarify our terms and conditions, as well as our data security information. We’ve also made these resources easier to access for school leaders, teachers, and caregivers. 

Some of the changes (compared to the terms for the 2020-2021 school year) are described below. None of these changes impact how the Summit Learning platform collects or uses student personal data. We encourage users to read the revised terms. 

 

Here are the legal terms that apply to each school or districts:

  • Program Agreement 
    • Distinguished Gradient Learning, the organization, from Summit Learning, the Program and Platform
    • Introduced “caregiver” in recognition of the diversity of family experiences
  • Data Privacy Addendum 
    • Distinguished Gradient Learning, the organization, from Summit Learning, the Program and Platform
    • Introduced “caregiver” in recognition of the diversity of family experiences
    • More streamlined, readable, and descriptive about how we meet our privacy and security standards
    • New provisions reflecting our current practices and how users and Partner Schools control Student Data
    • Updating our terms to ensure our privacy standards keep pace with the best practices and stay aligned with our product updates
  • Terms of Service (effective June 15, 2021)
    • More streamlined, readable, and descriptive about how we provide the Services
    • Distinguished Gradient Learning the organization from Summit Learning, the Program and Platform
    • Introduced “caregiver” in recognition of the diversity of family experiences
    • Rephrased and clarified how disputes are handled, including changes to the Arbitration Agreement

Here are the legal terms that apply to individual users:

    • More streamlined, readable, and descriptive about how we provide the Services
    • Distinguished Gradient Learning, the organization, from Summit Learning, the Program and Platform
    • Updated to include more inclusive language, we now use “caregiver” instead of only “parent” or “legal guardian” 
    • Changed how disputes are handled to include an Arbitration Agreement, which requires the use of individual arbitration 
    • More streamlined, readable, and descriptive about how we provide the Services, and more transparency about the information we collect and how we may use and share it
    • Distinguished Gradient Learning, the organization, from Summit Learning, the Program and Platform
    • Voluntarily adopted disclosures required under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) 
    • Added additional detail about how we use cookies, pixels, and click-through URLs to understand how users interact with our websites, emails, and other services
    • Updated links to help you access information and learn more about our parent nonprofit, Gradient Learning
    • As early adopters of the Future of Privacy Forum’s and SIAA’s Privacy Pledge 2020 (formerly Student Privacy Pledge), and we have added language to share that news and reflect our ongoing commitment to industry best practices
