No. Consistent with Chan Zuckerberg Initiative's (CZI's) Education Privacy Principles, CZI does not receive or collect student information from Summit. As a service provider, CZI accesses information on Summit’s servers (or the servers of our service providers that we use to provide such data storage services) to operate and improve the Platform and the related Services. In addition, schools control and are responsible for, student information provided through the Platform. At any point, schools can request that Summit delete personally-identifiable student information.
Summit and CZI have established strong policies and practices to protect student information.
- Both Summit and CZI are signatories to the Future of Privacy Forum's Student Privacy Pledge and follow the set of principles established to safeguard student privacy, including responsible stewardship, protection, and transparent handling of student information.
- Summit and CZI staff working on the Platform and the related Services undergo training on protecting student information and sign an Acceptable Use Policy to limit its use to the improvement and development of the Platform and the related Services.
