How do Summit and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative collaborate to protect student information?

Summit and CZI are committed to protecting student privacy. Both organizations have independently established strong privacy policies, as well as shared practices that protect student information on the Platform and the related Services.

  • Both Summit and CZI are signatories to the Future of Privacy Forum's Student Privacy Pledge and follow the set of principles established to safeguard student privacy, including responsible stewardship, protection, and transparent handling of student information.
  • Summit and CZI staff working on the Platform and the related Services undergo training on protecting student information and sign an Acceptable Use Policy to limit its use to the improvement and development of the Platform and the related Services.

Consistent with CZI’s Education Privacy Principles, CZI does not receive or collect student information from Summit. As a service provider, CZI only accesses information on Summit’s servers (or the servers of our service providers that we use to provide such data storage services) to operate and improve the Platform and related Services.
