Is the Summit Learning Platform compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)?

FERPA is a federal law that covers student personal information in the education context and applies to schools.

Summit Learning is not a school, but we ensure that our school partners can use the learning program  in compliance with their FERPA obligations. For example, schools using the Summit Learning Program control the student information that is provided to us and are able to request deletion and or correction of such information.

For more information about FERPA, watch Student Privacy 101: FERPA for parents/guardians and Students from the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, please see our FERPA primer for more detail, including information on the “school official” exception to FERPA’s parental consent requirements.
