As a parent/guardian, you may be interested in seeing what your child has set as their college goals. In College from the left navigation menu, students can explore different types of colleges and set long-term goals for the types of colleges they'd like to attend and goals for the year related to each aspect of their college application. Students can change their college goals at any time and explore the courses, grades, test scores, letters of recommendation and essay requirements for colleges at varying levels of selectivity.
There are six types of colleges listed on the Summit Learning Platform: Minimally Selective, Somewhat Selective, Selective, More Selective, Highly Selective, and Extremely Selective.
For each type of college, students can learn more about the different parts of the college application process:
- Explore: Students can see the typical GPA range and ACT/SAT score range of students at different types of colleges, example colleges, and qualities and characteristics that each type of college may be looking for.
- Courses: Students can see all courses they need to successfully complete in order to be a good fit for their college type. (Note: Only world language requirements change based on the type of college.)
- Grades: Students can see the typical GPA range for incoming college freshmen at their college type and their own current and Projected GPA. They can also learn more about what to do to reach the typical GPA range for their type of college.
- Test Scores: Students can see the ACT score range, SAT score range, and AP score range for incoming college freshmen at their college type. They can also learn more about what to do to prepare for the tests. (Note: 11th and 12th graders will also have their own standardized test scores recorded.)
- Essays: Students can see their interests or passions and action items they’ll need to complete in order to pursue their passions.
- Letters of Recommendation: Students can select which Habits of Success they’d like to improve and any action items they’ll need to complete in order to improve those habits.
