If your school has activated Your Student Snapshot for its families, then you will receive SMS text messages about your child’s academic coursework and progress in the Summit Learning Platform. With this feature, your school hopes to keep you more up to date on what your child is working on in school and how they are doing academically. Specifically, you’ll learn about your child’s projects, power focus areas progress, grades, and tips on how to support them academically.
How often will I get messages?
You’ll receive, on average, 2 text messages per week per child, and the texts will be personalized to your child’s own academic calendar and performance. The text messages will include notifications about: upcoming projects and whether your child completed the project or not, progress on passing focus area content assessments, growth in cognitive skills, course grades, and suggested tips and conversations starters to support your child’s academic
What does “Msg & data rates apply” mean?
There is no cost to receive Your Student Snapshot, but standard message rates and data charges from your carrier apply when sending or receiving Student Snapshot text messages, just as they would for any text. Check with your carrier if you have questions about your plan and costs.
How do I opt out?
To opt out, reply “STOP” to any Student Snapshot SMS message you received. You will receive no further Student Snapshot messages for any of your students in the Summit Learning Platform from that point onwards. Reply with “START” at any time to opt back in.
How will these messages help my student and I?
We hope the text messages will:
- Help you keep more up to date on what your child is learning and how they are doing in school
- Help you better support your child’s academics by being informed about your child’s academic progress and by providing suggested tips
- Foster constructive conversations between you and your child about their academics through the suggested conversation starters
- Create a common understanding and language among families, students, and faculty to talk about your child’s school experience and performance
How do I change the phone number or language for the messages?
Please contact your school to change your phone number or language preference. The messages are currently available in English and Spanish.
How do I add another parent to these alerts?
Please contact your school to add additional parents or legal guardians to your child’s Student Snapshot.
