Yes. The Summit Learning Platform is in compliance with COPPA.
COPPA expressly states that the law applies only to commercial websites and online services. Summit Public Schools is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Consequently, COPPA does not apply. However, even though COPPA does not apply, Summit Public Schools takes protecting the privacy and security of children’s personal information seriously and is in compliance. Summit Public Schools collects personal information from students for the use and benefit of the school, and for no other commercial purpose. The Summit Learning Platform contains no advertising and does not use student data for targeted advertising. And lastly, Summit Public Schools subscribes to the White House-endorsed Student Privacy Pledge.
