What do I need to know in my first month?

The Summit Learning platform was designed to support educators like you throughout the entire course of the year. That also means there are many ways the platform can support teaching and learning. During your first month, we suggest focusing on these specific key actions aligned with important milestones from the Instructional Launch Checklist

Projects

  1. Copy your course from the Base Curriculum
  2. Access the Plans tab to internalize and prepare to teach:
    • Your Course
    • Your first Project
    • Your first Checkpoint

Math

  1. Copy your math Course from the Base Curriculum
  2. Access the Plans tab to internalize and prepare to teach:
    • Your Course
    • Your first Math Unit
    • Your first 1-2 lessons

Mentoring

  1. Review your mentee data
  2. Verify that the list of students in your mentoring section in the platform is correct and add/remove students accordingly

Self Direction

  1. Review your school’s expectations, structures, and norms for students completing Focus Areas
  2. Review how you will onboard your students to Self-Direction in collaboration with your teacher team

Once you're ready to explore the platform further, we suggest prioritizing these other actions that might be helpful during the beginning of the school year:
