In this article, you can find information on:

How do I exempt students from completing Focus Areas?

Note: This feature is only available to users with admin level accounts.

You can exempt students from completing Focus Areas when they transfer to your school mid-year. You should not use this tool if a student is behind and want to catch them up, or if a student scored a 7/10 on a Content Assessment.

  1. Click Setup
  2. Click Students
  3. Find the student who needs a Focus Area exemption
  4. Click the three dots next to the student's name
  5. Find the Focus Area exemptions section
  6. Select Add Focus Area Exemption
  7. Type in the Focus Area name
  8. Enter the reason for the exemption
  9. Check I understand when to exempt Focus Areas for a student
  10. Click Save
When a student receives exemptions for Focus Areas, those Focus Areas will move to the Exempted Focus Areas row on their Year page.  All Focus Areas in this row do not count towards a student's grade. The remaining Focus Areas will be redistributed evenly across their respective rows.

If you'd like the Focus Area to not appear at all, please see this article on how to exempt students from Focus Areas.

  2. Click Students
  3. Find the student who needs a Focus Area mastery
  4. Click the three dots next to the student's name
  5. Find the Focus Area manual mastery section
  6. Select Edit
  7. Type in the Focus Area name
  8. Enter the reason for mastery
  9. Check I understand when to grant mastery for Focus Areas for a student
  10. Click Save

When a student is granted mastery for a Focus Area, those Focus Areas will turn green and remain on the Power, Additional, or Challenge Focus Area row.
